Who am I?

Hi, I’m Susanna, a psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 17 years of experience working in health, care, and therapeutic settings. I specialise in helping individuals overcome trauma, addiction, grief, self-esteem issues, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and rooted in cultural sensitivity, with a particular focus on supporting ethnically diverse communities and those from underrepresented backgrounds.

I believe that healing is not just about surviving—but thriving. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, dealing with childhood wounds, or trying to reconnect with your true self, I create a compassionate, safe, and empowering space for growth and recovery.

💫 My Four Pillars of Practice

  • 1. Trauma-Informed Healing
  • I gently support clients in exploring the impact of trauma on their mind, body, and relationships, offering tools for grounding, emotional regulation, and long-term recovery.

  • 2. Cultural Sensitivity & Identity Work
  • I honour the unique experiences and challenges faced by ethnically diverse clients. I create space for culturally aware, identity-affirming conversations that support holistic healing.

  • 3. Empowerment & Confidence Building
  • I help clients reconnect with their inner strength, challenge limiting beliefs, and step into lives filled with purpose, clarity, and self-worth.

  • 4. Creative & Somatic Exploration
  • From journaling to somatic grounding practices, I weave creative tools into therapy that speak to the whole self—mind, body, and spirit.

I specialise in working with trauma, addiction, grief and loss, body image, confidence, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationships. I also offer adult counselling, child counselling, and couples counselling, tailoring my approach to each client's unique needs.

Professional Experience and Achievements

With 18 years in the health and care sector, I have supported individuals with physical and mental health disabilities, including dementia, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, end-of-life care, higher dependency care, neurodiversity (dyslexia, ADHD, autism), and severe mental health conditions. My experience spans from hospitals, residential care, supported living, private and community settings, where I have worked with people from all walks of life.

Beyond healthcare, my career has been diverse—I have worked in customer service, retail, hospitality, event and hostess roles, security services, PA roles, supervisory positions, and nursery care. I've also had experience in modelling and working abroad in the Caribbean, which has enriched my cultural awareness and adaptability.

How else do you support mental health and well-being?

Beyond counselling, I teach counselling courses in adult education, equipping future counsellors with essential tools to support others. I also design and facilitate well-being programs that promote mental health awareness in schools, community settings, and professional organisations. I also do cultural awareness workshops focus on Black identities while embracing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Through workshops, training sessions, and public speaking, I strive to create lasting change in mental health support and education.

How would you describe your purpose in life?

My purpose is to empower others to heal, grow, and thrive. Becoming the best version of themselves for themselves. Your mind is your most valuable thing you own it is the command centre of your life, the engine that drives every decision you make we have to protect it. I believe in the power of self-discovery and resilience, and I am committed to guiding people towards a more fulfilled and authentic life. Even in the most adverse circumstances and heartbreaking moments, we can still strive to live our most fulfilled life. As long as we have life, we have hope

Why did you choose to become a counsellor?

My own journey of overcoming challenges, multiple traumas , some of the most heart breaking events and health struggles both physically and mentally inspired me to help others. My counselling jounery not only healed me but saved and changed my life. I know firsthand the impact of feeling unheard, and I wanted to create a space where people feel truly seen, understood, and supported.

I advocate for the power of talking and expressing—life is too heavy to carry everything alone. To talk is to release, to share is to lighten the load, and through connection, we find healing
